What the heck is going on with teleseminars and webinars?

I attend a LOT of teleseminars and webinars.

I also host a LOT of teleseminars and webinars.

Lately, I've attended several webinars that have left me...let's just say "less than satisfied."

I'm sure you've seen video sales letters, right? Basically, the product promoter creates a slide show with the content of the sales letter, and you get to review the sales pitch in video format.

Works great, I love them, they're a wonderful tool to get the message out there.

But when a webinar host simply regurgitates his or her sales letter - or even worse, PLAYS THE VIDEO SALES LETTER AS THE ENTIRE WEBINAR - well, them's fightin' words.

And it seems like lately that's all a lot of people want to deliver.

What the heck is going on?

Whatever happened to giving people valuable, HELPFUL information, then sharing with them how your tool/service/training will make it faster, easier, better for them to implement that valuable, helpful information?

I know everyone has their own approach to marketing. I know everyone isn't going to do things the same way or the way I think they should do them .

But if you take an hour or more of my time and just read a sales letter to me, I will NOT buy your product. I will leave the webinar feeling like you wasted my time. And chances are, you will never get me to give you my hard-earned money.

The benefit you get from delivering webinars is that you get to SHOW your audience some really cool stuff so they feel COMFORTABLE when you ask them to vote with their wallets.

So please, if you do webinars or teleseminars, please, please, give your listeners/watchers something of value they can use right away. Let them get to know you, who you are, what you're all about, and demonstrate that you know how to solve their problem.

Your bank account will thank you.

See this in action. I'll be doing another webinar webinar (no that's not a stutter, it's a webinar on how to do webinars) on Monday, November 14 at 6pm Central time. Sign up here ==> http://thebreakthroughmarketer.com/event/webinars/

I guarantee you will leave with information you can implement immediately!

It is possible to host an amazing teleseminar even if you’re not an expert in the area your clients and prospects need the most help with. The strategy is fairly simple: if you’re not an expert, simply find out who the expert is, contact them, and interview them.

Interviewing experts is something that’s done in every industry and in many different venues. Look at the talk shows on radio and television – they bring information to their audiences by interviewing experts. It’s something you can do, as well.
1. Decide on the topic. Ideally, this should be an area where your clients and subscribers regularly ask for help.

2. Identify several different experts. That way if your first choice is unavailable, you can move to the next name on your list. The best place to find people to interview is rtironline.com. These are people who want to be interviewed so they can get publicity.

3. Pick a date to hold your teleseminar and contact the expert well in advance so they have time to put it on their calendar.

4. Get a teleconference line. Be sure to practice using it so you’re prepared on the day of the live call.

5. Set up your web pages. You will need a place for people to sign up for the call, and a thank you page that gives them the call details.

6. Set up your autoresponder campaign. Your autoresponder campaign should send a registration confirmation and also remind them the day before the call and on the morning of the call. All of the messages should include the call in details.

7. Follow-up by phone if you don’t have a commitment from your expert. Once you have an expert on board, update your opt-in page with their information and send an email to your list inviting them to sign up.

8. Prepare your interview questions if the expert doesn’t have a presentation prepared (many will have a set formula they like to use). You could even have your subscribers ask the questions they need answers to when they sign up for the call.

9. During the call, follow the agreed-upon format and questions. BE SURE YOU RECORD THE CALL.

10. Then be sure to follow-up. Send the expert a special thank you (go above and beyond, not just a little 2-line email message). Also follow up with your subscribers and ask them for their feedback.

This method of delivering valuable information to an interested audience has been used to build Information Empires for years – and it will continue to be used because it works. Don’t believe me? I have just one word for you: Oprah.

Getting results from your teleseminars and webinars means presenting your information to the right audience in the right way. Your effectiveness will increase as you gain more experience, but there is one skill you need to develop immediately:

To have success with teleseminars and webinars, you must build rapport with your audience.

The first several minutes of your presentation are critical. This is the time when your audience will gain their first impression of you, your subject matter, and why on earth they should listen to you.
Your introduction must do more than provide them with a description of what the call is all about. You must capture their interest. Rather than simply saying “This class will cover…,” tell your audience who you are and how listening to you is going to make their life better.

If your introduction is a long, drawn out, boring dissertation about you, or if it’s confusing and doesn’t tell the audience why they should care, they will tune you out or, even worse, just disconnect from the conference. Your goal in the first few minutes is to captivate them to the point that it would be virtually impossible for them to stop listening.

There are a few tools you can use to capture your audience’s attention – and maintain it:

• I’m just like you. Let your audience know how you’re like them. Share some of your experiences that they likely share, especially if it’s a problem that you can help them solve.
• Shock. Startling statistics really make people sit up and take notice. For example, did you know that 1,004,342 individuals filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. in 2008. That’s individuals, not businesses. Want to know something even more shocking? That figure is lower than it was in 1998: 1,398,182. What the heck? I thought the economy was getting worse?
• Story Time. Tell an interesting story to build rapport. This could be an anecdotal account of a personal experience, a funny story about something that happened recently, or just a quick tidbit that builds their curiosity so they have to keep listening to find out what happened.
• Think about it. Ask a question or make a comment to engage their intellect. Make them really think about the problem you’re going to solve for them so that, as you deliver your content, they apply it to their situation.
• Funny stuff. Humor is a wonderful rapport-builder because it effectively engages the emotions of your audience in a safe way. Be sure to use it wisely, however. Funny stories should be on-topic and should never be offensive.

Use a combination of these techniques to connect with your audience and get them engaged in your material. Again, your goal is to hold their attention.

The more you use these tools, the more you’ll be able to really build relationships with your clients and prospects. Relationships, of course, are the key to all of your business efforts.

Teleseminars and webinars are important tools to use in growing your Information Marketing business. You can employ these virtual conferences to build rapport with your clients and prospects, deliver sales messages, conduct educational sessions, and even just to keep your contacts informed about what’s happening with your company.

The beauty of the webinar format, in addition to the multiple uses listed above, is that you can use a simple strategy to grow your list, find out exactly what they want, create valuable content, produce a product, and drive traffic to your sales offer for that product.

Sounds like a whole lot of pressure to put on one little webinar, doesn’t it? Take a closer look:
1. Select a topic that your target audience is desperate to know more about. This should be a fairly broad category, but specific enough that you can focus on many pieces of related information. For example, if your niche is automobile care and maintenance, your topic might be How to Care for Your Car’s Exterior without Spending a Fortune.

2. Set up an opt-in page that allows the visitor to ask their most pressing question. Your thank you page should provide the subscriber with details on how to join the webinar. Be sure to set up your autoresponder to remind the subscriber of the class.

3. Advertise your webinar. Mail to your list, contact your JV partners, and notify your affiliates. Set up ads just as you would for a product. In addition, register your class at cculearning.com.

4. Prepare for your webinar. Review the most frequently-asked questions and begin planning how you will answer them. Practice your delivery, including a 1-2 minute introduction and a 2-3 minute closing where you offer the completed product to your audience. Your completed package will include a video, an ebook, an mp3 audio, and a workbook. The content portion of your webinar should last one hour.

5. Set up a sales page, order page, and thank you page for people to purchase your multimedia training package. Now that you’ve planned your questions and answers, you should be able to write a killer sales letter that highlights the benefits of your package. Your thank you page will initially let your customer know that the package will be available after the conclusion of the webinar class.

6. Host the webinar and answer the most frequently-asked questions as you have planned. Be sure to make your offer at the end, and absolutely, positively, without question thank the audience for their participation.

7. Extract the audio from your video, and send the recording to a transcription service to have it transcribed.

Here are a few to check out:
idictate.com
e24tech.com
escriptionist.com
verbalink.com
elance.com

8. While your recording is being transcribed, break down your video so that each question and answer is a separate video file. Also extract the audio portion from each of the question and answer videos and save each as an individual audio file. Finally, decide if you want to keep the sales offer in the full-length audio and video that will go into your package.

9. Once you receive your transcription, clean it up and create an ebook. Use the text from your transcription to create a workbook that helps your client apply the information to their own situation. Separate each question and answer from the transcription and create articles that are high points from each question and answer pair.

10. Publish your articles on your website, ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com. Update your social networking sites as well. Post 2 or 3 of your videos on youtube.com. Create links from your website to the videos. Also post 2 or 3 of your audios on your website and set up feeds for them to iTunes.

Using this strategy is incredibly powerful and has the potential to bring you results in days rather than weeks, months, or years. You will be able to create your product and generate traffic to your website quicker and easier than you ever thought possible.
